How to get a better airfare from Dhaka

Six simple habits that save money — and the cheap-fare traps to avoid.

  1. Ask early. For holidays and Eid, fares rise as seats fill. Two to three months ahead is usually better.
  2. Be flexible by a day or two. Midweek flights are often cheaper.
  3. Compare the whole price. A cheap fare without checked baggage can cost more in the end.
  4. Read the change rules. If your dates may move, a slightly higher fare with free changes can save you money.
  5. Check transit visas. Some one-stop routes need a transit visa — a cheap fare is no good if you cannot board.
  6. Get it in writing. Ask for a written quote with baggage, changes and refund rules before you pay.
